Resolutions from the annual general meeting of OptiMail AB

The annual general meeting of OptiMail AB held on 10 March 2004, resolved to declare a dividend for 2003 of SEK 0.50 per share, equivalent to SEK 6.5 million. The record day for the dividend is Monday, 15 March 2003. With this record day, it is estimated that payment of the dividend from VPC AB can take place on Thursday, 18 March 2004.

Norway Post buys Nor-Cargo

Norway Post has signed an agreement to buy Nor-Cargo Holding ASA for NOK 850 million. The transaction strengthens Norway Post’s core business and makes the company a provider of a full range of logistics services. The acquisition is the largest ever made by Norway Post during its 356 years of existence. Norway Post takes over Nor Cargo Holding ASA from Det Stavangerske Dampskibsselskab ASA (DSD) and Ofotens og Vesteraalens Dampskibsselskap ASA (OVDS), with effect from 10 May this year. The acquisition does not include Nor-Cargo Shipping. The agreement is conditional upon due diligence and the approval of the Norwegian Competition Authority. The acquisition strengthens Norway Post’s position in the logistics market, where competition is fierce especially from international players. Norway Post’s acquisition of Nor-Cargo secures a competitive Norwegian alternative.

Competition for the Norwegian Postal Service

The Norwegian Postal Service (Posten Norge) will be facing competition after several Norwegian newspapers have established the company Mediapost which will be distributing newspapers, magazines and books.

Aftenposten, the Labour Press and Orkla Media have taken the initiative to form the new distribution company, and will utilize their own distribution network for the new company.
