Strike averted in Norwegian Postal Service

A strike in Norway’s postal service has been averted, after the parties reached a new wage agreement earlier today (14 May).
The new agreement means a 5% increase in postal workers’ salaries. As part of the deal the present pension arrangement will continue.
The threatened strike would have affected around 20,000 employees at the postal service, reports the Norwegian broadcasting service NRK.

In an attempt to fill a gap in its market, TPG has bought a 50% stake in a pan-Nordic parcel firm through its TNT Logistics subsidiary. TNT has bought half of DFDS Transport Logisitics, part of DSV A/S which is a transport, logistics and environment group with bases in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Postal workers brace for long strike

Norway’s mail service can be hard hit by industrial action after 20,000 postal workers were offered an overall wage reduction during this year’s salary negotiations.
Talks broke down a week and a half ago and in all probability a massive walkout will take place on Tuesday, May 14. The mood among postal workers is palpably tense. After a year of restructuring, layoffs and shutdowns, employees are in no mood to accept a wage cut. Negotiations are now the responsibility of the state arbitrator and a solution has to be in by midnight May 13.
