Parcelforce Worldwide is launching its first above the line advertising campaign for six years following a major restructure of the business that has firmly positioned it as one of the UK’s leading express delivery companies. Over the past nine months Parcelforce Worldwide has reinvented itself as a time-guaranteed, express only delivery company and ended its role in the non-guaranteed three to five day delivery market. Its association with slower delivery services had previously made it difficult to build its reputation and image as a high quality express parcel company.

UK night flights fall as parcels go by road

Noisy night flights are to be reduced at Coventry Airport following a move by Parcelforce to switch to road and rail as part of a cost cutting drive.

The number of flights the company operates from its Baginton base will be reduced to from five to two per week by the end of the month.

Parcelforce feels no pain from six of the best

Parcelforce Worldwide has retained a multi-million pound contract from European Parcels Group for the delivery of parcels across the UK.
EPG is a collaboration of 16 European postal administrations which offers a standardised day-certain European parcel service for business and consumer deliveries.

Parcelforce beat off six rival companies to hold onto the contract and will deliver around a million parcels a year to UK addresses.

A Symbol of success

Parcelforce claims to have dramatically improved its efficiency after adopting a £1.5m (€2.3m) parcel scanning and tracking system.
In the six months since the introduction of the Symbol finger-mounted ring scanners and wrist-worn computers, linked to a local area network, the company saw a 10% increase in the use of scanners. Damage to scanning equipment is down 40% and Parcelforce has also made savings in back-end IT infrastructure.

Parcelforce to try experiment again

Parcelforce Worldwide, the lossmaking express package arm of the British Royal Mail Group, is to relaunch an experimental evening home delivery service in the New Year, writes Roger Hailey.

Managing director Vanessa Leeson confirmed that Parcelforce was talking to customers about restarting 1800 hrs until 2100 hrs home deliveries following the suspension of a previous trial earlier this year.
