Civil Service minister against breaking up Poste Italiane

“I’m against the possibility of dividing Poste Italiane S.p.A.,” said the Civil Service Minister, Mario Baccini, speaking at the Slp Cisl convention at Chianciano. “The company’s recovery was done with the contribution of the unions and workers. I think we have to continue dialogue. The Poste belongs to the entire country, and it can become an important segment for reinforcing the competitiveness of our country. Because of this, I’m against a possible division of the company. I don’t believe that the market can solve the problem of taking registered mail to remote Italian towns. The company’s unity must be our guidelines.”

Italy Economy Ministry appoints Poste Italiane Chairman

The Italian Economy Ministry appointed Vittorio Mincato chairman of Italian state-owned postal services company Poste Italiane. Massimo Sarmi was appointed CEO. Francesco Mengozzi and Enzo Cardi stepped down from their positions of members of the board of directors. The new board now includes, apart from Vittorio Mincato and Massimo Sarmi, Salvatore Biasco, Roberto Colombo, Franco Corlaita, Nunzio Guglielmino, Angelo Mariano, Filippo Milone, Mauro Michielion, Francesco Pizzo and Giampaolo Rossi.

Poste Italiane top officers likely to be re-elected

The top officers of Italian state-owned postal services company Poste Italiane should be put to the vote, Communications Minister, Mario Landolfi, said. Answering a question about possible new nominations at Poste Italiane top managerial positions, Landolfi said most probably the current executives will be re-elected. The reshuffle of Poste Italiane’s management team is to be made by May 25, 2005, the minister added.

Italian state-owned postal services company Poste Italiane and local leasing company Banca Italease SpA launched on May 10, 2005, the joint service Leasing BancoPosta. Leasing BancoPosta is intended for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), traders and freelancers. They can apply for a financing of up to 150, 000 euro (USD 192, 795) for real estate and capital goods purchases.

Italy Poste Italiane to employ staff in Basilicata

Italian state-owned postal services company Poste Italiane plans to employ personnel in the southern Italian region of Basilicata, the regional secretaries of Italian trade unions Slc-Cgil, Slp Cisl and Uilpost said on April 23, 2005.

According to the trade unions, after a meeting with managers of Poste Italiane, it became clear that the company will not employ 100 workers with permanent employment contracts, as it was previously announced.

Poste Italiane will employ 20 in Potenza and five in Matera with permanent contracts, another 10 with fixed-term contracts, 17 to substitute the persons during the summer holidays, and 21 to substitute other missing employees.
