Read MoreCONSIGNIA has dropped three nightly mail trains which pass through the disrupted West Coast Mainline between Glasgow and London because they were failing to arrive on time. The mail will travel by road or air instead.
Two of the trains stopped running last Friday, joining the one terminated in December.
Consignia is close to agreeing a deal with Railtrack that would remove the threat of the mail group shifting UK deliveries from rail to road. The renamed Post Office is expected to announce next month that it will continue to be a major user of the railways, through contracts with the freight company EWS.
