Global Pallet System getting up to speed
Read MorePalletFORCE Member Depot Evans Transport has extended its ties with the Network by launching PalletFORCE services from its headquarters in Barnstaple, in addition to its Exeter depot.
Evans Transport first joined PalletFORCE in early 2006. “Chief Executive Mick Scarlett explained the principles behind the Network and we agreed that it would be an ideal way of enhancing the services we offer to our customers,” explains Nigel Evans.
When PalletFORCE’s commitment to Depot consolidation created an opening in North Devon for a new Member Depot, Evans was quick to see the potential for the company’s Barnstaple operation.
Evans Transport was founded in 1965 and is still family owned. The company has a fleet of 90 vehicles operating from the South-West region.
Read MoreEGL, Inc. announced that the Special Committee of its Board of Directors has received a written proposal, dated March 19, 2007 from Apollo Management L.P. expressing its interest in the acquisition of EGL, Inc. for USD 40.00 per share, subject to certain conditions, including expedited confirmatory due diligence. The Special Committee determined that, under EGL’s Merger Agreement with an affiliate of James R. Crane, Apollo’s proposal is an alternative proposal. Accordingly, the Special Committee has also informed the Crane Affiliate of the existence of the proposal, and has made arrangements so that Apollo may conduct its due diligence investigation with respect to its proposal.
The Special Committee cautions that there can be no assurance that Apollo or another third party will make a firm offer, or that the terms of any such offer received will be a superior proposal or will be consummated.
Read MoreCroydon-based transport company TAG Transport Services has joined PalletFORCE, one of the country’s fastest growing palletised distribution networks, in the long-term interests of the company and its customers.
Although it has been operating since October 2001, TAG’s directors can boast of a collective experience of over forty years in the road haulage business. The company has extensive links to the newspaper industry and transports in excess of 600 tonnes of free and national newspapers every week.
With clients across the UK, and TAG looking to diversify its business into other areas, joining a palletised distribution network was the logical move. PalletFORCE was chosen following recommendations from two Member Depots with whom TAG already has close links.
The company operates a fleet of twenty vehicles, ranging from 7.5 tonne to 44 tonne artic lorries, plus transits and Astravans for smaller loads.
