DHL consolidates its presence in the Basque Country with the purchase of Transportes Eganaberri

DHL Iberia, the world leading transport and logistics company , has recently acquired the Egañaberri transport company.

This operation was completed at the end of October and means the Bergara depot’s integration into the DHL group, as the Egañaberri transport company operated in that town under the DHL Express trademark as DHL’s representative in West Gipuzkoa, serving the whole of the Deba Valley.
In this way, the two DHL Express centres covering the province of Guipuzcoa (San Sebastian and Bergara) now belong to the DHL Group.

With this operation, DHL has consolidated and strengthened its presence in the Basque Country, where it recently opened new premises at Bilbao airport and the air hub for Spain, Portugal, South-West France and Noth Africa, in Vitoria.

TNT decides to divest Freight Management business unit

Peter Bakker, CEO of TNT, stated: “the business unit as such is in excellent shape, however, as we are focusing on the growth opportunities in our core Mail and Express network distribution activities, our Freight Management business unit would benefit from a different corporate environment. Our initial exploration has identified strong interest in this business.”
TNT Freight Management is a freight forwarding business using air and sea transportation and originates from Wilson Logistics which was acquired by TNT in 2004. The business unit employs 2,300 people, operating from 126 offices in 28 countries with a significant presence in the Nordic region. The business unit represents approximately euro 800 million in annual revenues.

Mike Watson Transport joins PalletFORCE Network

Hampshire-based Mike Watson Transport (MWT) has joined PalletFORCE, one of the fastest-growing palletised distribution networks in the UK.

In order to meet the anticipated growth as a direct result of PalletFORCE, MWT is expanding its operations to accommodate a new dedicated 10,000 sq.ft warehousing depot in Alton, Hampshire, with a further two vehicles being added to the fleet. In addition, MWT is currently recruiting a new member of staff to join its haulage team, and expects continued growth over the coming months as a result of its participation in PalletFORCE.

MWT will cover the GU1 – 10, 23 and 26 – 35 postcodes, which incorporate Alton, Guildford, Petworth, Petersfield and Farnham.

Logistics road network to link ME and Europe

TNT Express, an international express delivery company plans to link the Middle East with the European market through the road network. The cargo major is expanding its presence to Syria and Lebanon by the end of this year and then links it with Turkey.
The move comes as TNT develops its Middle East Road Network (MERN), starting with its ‘Day Definite’ service, which guarantees customers the exact number of days to delivery.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Rodney Ellis, TNT Express’s Commercial & marketing Manager , Gulf says, “the road network is the backbone of TNT’s regional strategy and we plan to launch routes linking the Gulf countries with the wider Middle East and Europe next year.”

PalletFORCE reputation brings E.M. Rogers to network

Northampton-based transport company E.M. Rogers has joined the PalletFORCE palletised distribution network in order to enhance the range of services it can offer to its customers.

E.M. Rogers has not been involved with a network before, as its primary focus is in international haulage. The decision to join PalletFORCE was made after the company decided to diversify and extend its UK operation.

PalletFORCE came highly recommended, as Ed Rogers explains. “As part of the Transport Association, we asked fellow members who are part of PalletFORCE what they thought of the Network. The overriding feeling was that PalletFORCE has revolutionised the way they do business, and has really helped them to develop.”
