TPNs pallet throughput rose 21% in the financial year just ended, says chairman Richard Eldred. Growth came through expansion with existing member and from new memebers. The introduction of quarter-pallets had minimal impact he says.

Wyndeham in logistics deal with DHL

Wyndeham Press Group has appointed DHL Freight and Contract Logistics (UK) to provide transport distribution and managed logistics. Under the terms of the three-year, multi-million-pound deal, DHL will supply Wyndeham with freight services, SameDay and NextDay parcel services, and NextDay pallet deliveries.
Wyndeham Press Group chief operating officer Roy Kingston said: “DHL is very experienced in moving time-sensitive material and is flexible enough to ensure we meet the changing requirements of our customers.”

Palletways hits target

Palletways now has 27 members a week feeding freight into the international service that it launched in January.

European development manager John McCormick says the number is growing all the time. The present single-deck trunk to Nijmegen is running at capacity and he predicted that not only a second but also a third trunk will be introduced by Easter.

Palletways is considering adding a double-decker, although it willl have to meet Dutch height limits.

Growth of the service is meeting what were challenging targets, he said. “Ten to 15” members already had their own international services and use Palletways only for top-up, if at all; the other 85 members – the vast majority – had never had an international product to sell, he says.

Networks to speak with a single voice

Pallet networks are poised to form their own trade association, although levels of enthusiasm vary.
It will be led by Paul Sanders, who founded Weaver Pallet Express and then sold it to Business Post, where it was renamed UK Pallets. He remained as MD until last autumn.
