Palletways’ new Naples hub breaks company records

Palletways has unveiled a new hub in Naples to enhance its express palletised freight distribution service in Southern Italy. The hub has broken the record for the most successful first night of a Palletways operation throughout mainland Europe and the UK. Adam Shuter, European development director, said: “Our operation in Italy continues to go from strength to strength, and the hub at Naples will enable us to offer businesses in the South a dedicated regional operation, thereby enhancing our customer service further in the area.”

MAT/TPN deal started with MT

The Pallet Network has linked with MAT Group to provide an international palletised distribution service. MAT’s Grays, Essex depot is also on board as a UK member of the network. The deal is the direct result of a report in Motor Transport in August 2004 of Brian Rosier’s purchase of MAT. “It’s taken a year to make it happen,” TPN chairman Richard Eldred says. Meanwhile, 15 members have bought shares in TPN from existing shareholders, typically in tranches of (pounds sterling)5,000 to (pounds sterling)10,000, Eldred says.

Palletways prepares for Iberian network

Palletways has embarked n a recruitmen drive to attract Spanish and Portuguese hauliers to its future Iberian network, which it claimes will be the first of its kind in the region. This follows a recent roadshow in France, attended by more than 20 companies, to motivate local transport businesses to join Palletways Euronord, a new network launched in March to service Benelux and some parts of Germany and France.
