LYNX Express announces link up with PALLET-TRACK Ltd

LYNX Express has forged a new alliance with PALLET-TRACK, the fast growing specialist pallet network to create a new force in pallet distribution. The move is a major opportunity for LYNX to increase significantly its already large share of the overnight pallet market. The service will be distinct and separate from that currently provided on a captive basis by the wholly owned LYNX Express depot network and fleet. The pricing structure, service proposition and terms of transport will be more closely aligned to meet demand for specialised pallet movements, particularly multiple part shipments. LYNX joins the expanding PALLET-TRACK network as one of the company’s new members alongside 55 others operating on a well established system which currently handles over 1400 pallets per night.

3i cashes in its 2002 Palletways investment

Venture capital company 3i has sold off its stake in West Midlands firm Palletways, one of the country’s leading specialist freight services companies.

Palletways, based in Lichfield, has been acquired by Phoenix Equity Partners, which has backed James Wilson – the former European senior-vVice president of TNT Express Worldwide – as the new chief executive.

3i invested some 8.3 million euros (pounds 5.53 million) in Palletways in May 2002 to fund a management buyout. Since then the company has extended its network across Europe and performed consistently well over the last two years, more than doubling its turnover.

The company operates a national hub and spoke network that allows regional hauliers to deliver small consignments nationwide at low cost.

London Parking Fines

A campaign against the imposition of heavy fines caused by the ‘no parking’ policies of London borough councils has resulted in a series of new measures to help ease the problem. TNT Express Services has been spearheading a six-month, industry-wide revolt challenging Westminster and Camden Councils to alter its policies to help accommodate collections and deliveries to businesses in the capital. TNT was facing potential fines up to GBP300,000 per annum under the existing arrangements. TNT, the UK Express Carriers Forum and Westminster and Camden officials held summit talks on July 15th and 16th to try and resolve the difficulties. A raft of new proposals looks like signalling an end to the dispute.
