The shambles of the Post Office/ Royal Mail/Consignia is self- inflicted. Management wailing about the regulator (the clearest indication that Corbett and Co are doing a good job) and private operators ‘cherry picking’ bulk mail is the last desperate excuse of a management that has failed to pay any attention to one of its biggest and wealthiest customers – the direct mail industry.

Members of the Communication Workers Union employed by the Royal Mail voted 63 percent in favor of a strike. Sixty-five percent of the union’s 145,000 postal members took part in the ballot.
Members of the Communication Workers Union have voted overwhelmingly to support an executive council recommendation to take strike action over Royal Mail pay. 145,000 ballot papers were sent out to members and the results were as follows. here was a 65 per cent return 63 per cent voted in favour of taking industrial action 37 per cent voted against.

Deutsche Post is the largest in a group of postal and distribution companies thought to be queueing to enter previously closed parts of the UK market now that the regulator, Postcomm, is to end the postal delivery monopoly held by Consignia, formerly the Post Office.
The removal of Royal Mail’s monopoly would not signal the introduction of blue post boxes and rival postmen, the regulator said on Thursday. For most people, there would be no change to the way they posted and received mail in the near future.
