Consignia is building a new customer portal around web services software from ebusiness platform company ATG.The company, formerly the Post Office, rejectedalternative packages from IBM, BEA and Broadvision.The portal, yet to be named, will launch in the autumn and is designed to give Consignia’s potential 20 million online customers a single point of access to services available from Royal Mail, Parcelforce Worldwide and the Post Office.

Postwatch moots agency search in information push

By MARK KLEINMAN Postwatch, the postal industry consumer watchdog, is looking at
hiring an ad agency as it seeks to inform the public about the
changes taking place in the mail delivery market. Postwatch, the brand name for the Consumer Council for Postal
Services, was launched in March to monitor the performance of
licensed postal operators, including Consignia, the parent company
of Royal Mail, and the Post Office.

Royal Mail arm to offer direct response advice

Royal Mail is to launch a consultancy service to provide advertisers
with advice on how to use direct response media as part of a brand’s
marketing mix. The service, to be unveiled next month, forms part of the
Consignia-owned company’s attempts to woo advertisers and their
agencies by offering services beyond its traditional mail delivery
operation.
