Read MoreSingapore Post Limited (SingPost) today announced the appointment of Mr Dennis Quek Hong Kai as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for its Logistics and eBusiness divisions, to further drive growth in these two businesses.
Mr Quek, 44, will join SingPost on 1 April 2007. He has held various key management positions in both local and regional logistics companies including Flextronics International (Singapore) Pte Ltd and PTC Logistics (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
SingPost’s International Mail and Mail businesses will continue to be led by Mr Teo Yew Hwa and Mr Woo Keng Leong respectively. Mr Teo Yew Hwa will be promoted to Executive Vice President (International Mail) and Mr Woo Keng Leong will be promoted to Executive Vice President (Mail), with immediate effect.
These latest appointments further strengthen SingPost’s senior management team, which is poised to meet the challenges of the impending liberalisation of the Basic Mail Services market and to take the Group on its next phase of growth.
These three executives report to the Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Lau Boon Tuan.

Read MorePos Malaysia Berhad and Singapore Post (SingPost) today launched a promotion drive to enhance their cross-broder express mail delivery service. Under the promotion, which will last a year, Malaysians and Singaporeans will enjoy special rates for certain classes of mail. SingPost group chief executive Lau Boon Tuan said this initiative was taken to further strengthen the existing close ties between the two parties for mutual benefit and also customers on both sides. “SingPost hopes this close cooperation will result in more value added services at attractive rates for our customers,” he said in a joint press release with Pos Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Ikmal Hijaz Hashim when the latter visited SingPost’s Malaysian heaquarters here today.

Operating revenue was up 7 per cent to 108 million dollars for the quarter ended Dec 31. In its core mail business, international and hybrid mail did well. The logistics business was strong with more demand for its Speedpost express delivery services. The retail division was also strong with growth in financial services and vPost mail-order transactions. Operating profit at its mail business rose 12 per cent in the quarter from the previous year to 33 million dollars. Logistics posted a 50 per cent jump in profits to 3 million dollars, while the retail business saw a 27 per cent profit rise to 2.7 million dollars. Revenue for the nine months was up 9.4 per cent to 307.8 million dollars, while the bottom line rose 10.8 per cent to 92.4 million dollars.
