TNT Argentina advises small and medium sized companies on how to obtain new customers

TNT Argentina, the Argentinean subsidiary of TPG, the Dutch express delivery and logistics services holding company, expects to increase its 2002 turnover of USD18mil by 80% in 2003. In order to achieve its target, the company will focus on increasing delivery volumes and on targeting local small and medium-sized companies that are entering the foreign trade market. As part of its strategy to raise market share, TNT Argentina has formed partnerships with institutions such as export promoting bodies and chambers of commerce of other countries in order to advise local small and medium-sized companies on how to market their products abroad.

Brazil Post nears online shopping mall launch

Correios, the Brazilian post office, is gearing up to open an online shopping ma where small and mid-sized local companies can set up affordable storefronts.

Dubbed CorreiosNet Shopping, the new virtual mall should launch either this mont or next depending on what the post’s top brass decides.

Correios officials say that the online mall has been designed to provide all the technical, commercial and logistical infrastructure required to operate a reliab high-quality, secure, low-cost e-business.

Courier companies may be forced out of Mexico

Major express shippers like UPS, DHL and FedEx may be forced out of Mexico, reports Mexico City’s El Financiero. Mexican lawmakers are considering mandating that “natural or legal Mexican citizens” operate federal cargo, courier and express services and restricting foreign stakes in such companies. Public hearings should begin March 15.

TNT forecasts R$1BIL income in Brazil

The Brazilian subsidiary of the logistic company TNT, which registered an income of R$237mil in 2002, 17% up 2001, plans to reach R$280mil, an increase of 20% this year. The group expects the automotive sector, which currently represents 80% of the turnover, to be responsible for 50% and the remainder 50% coming from the electronic products and consumer goods logistic division.
