Asia Pacific Express (APE) last week launched a direct next-day service to Malaga following its acquisition last month of fellow wholesaler Spanish Courier.
The morning flight to Malaga allows afternoon deliveries in Gibraltar. Spanish Courier was already offering morning flights to Barcelona and Madrid.
APE first became involved with the Iberian market when it took over IXC earlier this year.
Parcel service German Parcel and its European holding General Logistics Systems (GLS) will bet on alliances and joint ventures in order to complete their network. Plans for acquisitions were given up.

It handled about 14.4 million orders and 39 million shipments. According to Guipuzcoana the development of the international parcels business substantially surpassed expectations. On the national level the rate of growth was more modest. Guipuzcoana Euro Express also recently opened a new logistics centre in Valladollid. The terminal has a total warehouse and handling area of 10,000 sqm.
