Spanish Unipost turnover up 15.7 Pct y/y 2005

Spanish private postal services provider Unipost reported a 78.6 mln euro (USD96.3 mln) turnover for 2005, up 15.7 pct year-on-year, on April 18, 2006.
Unipost international distribution network generated 5.7 pct of the total. It is operated in cooperation with global express delivery and logistic group DHL, owned by German postal service operator Deutsche Post. Unipost delivered 460 million letters and packages, up 9.0 pct, and plans to increase their number to 510 million in 2006.

Deutsche Bank and Correos strengthen ties

Jose Damian Santiago, the chairman of Spanish postal services provider Correos, and the general manager of leading German bank Deutsche Bank in Spain, Antonio Rodriguez-Pina, signed an agreement to launch a new brand in the Spanish market, Bancorreos. Bancorreos will offer banking products designed for clients of Correos.

Seur ups sales and launches new service

Seur, the Spanish express market leader, increased revenues by 5.6% to EUR574 million in 2005, thanks to international growth and despite the strike that affected the country’s transport sector last October. It has also launched an environmentally friendly new city-centre delivery vehicle. The main growth driver was the international business which grew to revenues of EUR45.5 million, representing 8% of turnover. Its business in Portugal grew 10% to EUR29.9, the company said in a statement.

DHL opens new facility in Tarragona, Spain

DHL Express has opened a new €3.8 million centre in Tarragona, south of Barcelona, offering national and international road, sea and air services. The new facility replaces an older property whose capacity was no longer sufficient to handle growing volumes.
