DHL Express Thailand foresees 20 percent growth this year

DHL Express (Thailand) Co Ltd expects to post 20-per-cent revenue growth this year as it expands its services to keep pace with the rapid growth of trade in Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region, managing director Herbert Vongpusanachai said. The company will increase its payload capacity for express service between Thailand and the region and plans to upgrade air express facilities, such as its distribution centres in Thailand, to handle more shipments. DHL Thailand is also continuing with various marketing activities aimed at all target markets.

‘The outlook for the express business is optimistic, with an expected revenue increase of 20 per cent, as earlier targeted,’ said Herbert.

DHL, FedEx ranked leaders in Asian express-delivery poll

In a recent Reader’s Digest ‘Superbrands 2004’ poll, DHL Express and Federal Express were ranked the best recognised rapid-delivery services in Asia. Reader’s Digest magazine enclosed 180,000 questionnaires in its October 2003 issue and Nielson Media Research telephoned another 3,000 consumers, asking which brands they most admired in a range of 41 product categories. After analysing 6,000 responses, the magazine gave both DHL and Federal Express its Gold Award for Asia. The SuperBrands awards are based on Reader’s Digest surveys in Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines.

TPG to provide value-added services to Isuzu

TPG N.V., through its division TNT Logistics in Thailand, has been awarded a 5 year-contract by Isuzu Motors to provide value-added services such as Complete Knock Down operations and exports of parts and components from Thailand to Isuzu facilities around the world. The contract, which has a total value of 40 million Euros, is the largest automotive logistics contract ever awarded to a third-party logistics provider in Thailand.

DHL launches Indian ‘Rakhi Express’ service

Sisters can now send ‘rakhis’ to their brothers living overseas, along with a box of kumkum, some rice, a letter and a gift at a discount of 50 per cent, thanks to a new service by world’s leading logistics firm DHL.
The ‘Rakhi Express’ service is available from August 9 to 29 and “is designed to bridge the distance between families across countries,” DHL said.
The DHL Rakhi Express service is timed to coincide with this year’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’, the festival that celebrates sisters’ love for their brothers.

Thailand Mail Service Upgrade Vital

Thailand’s postal service is expected to improve significantly to accomodate the nation’s growing publishing industry. The Thai Printing Association has stressed the need for more efficient postal services in conjuction with the government’s project to make Thailand a printing and publishing hub in Asia. “In the next two years, Thailand’s postal services should be on par with international standards,” said Kriengkrai Thiennukul, president of TPA. The TPA has already convinced a number of publishing houses in Europe and the United States to use Thailand as a production base and helped them get tax breaks from the Board of Investment. It is also in negotiations with McGraw Hill and Time Warner and some other big publishing companies to set up a production base for the region here.
