TNT Express Opens Office in Polish Bielsko-Biala

The Polish unit of Dutch express mail courier TNT Express opened an office in Bielsko-Biala, southeastern Poland, Robert Mianowski, Director General of TNT Express Poland, said on April 15, 2005.

Besides clients from Bielsko-Biala, the office will service clients from the entire Podbeskidzie region, southeastern Poland. The company counts on attracting as clients companies from the automotive sector, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises.

The opening of the new office is in line with TNT Express Poland’s growth strategy adopted in early 2005, Mianowski added.

Before the opening of the company’s Bielsko-Biala office, the clients of TNT Express Poland were serviced at the office in Katowice, southern Poland.

TNT Express Portugal Launches myTNT Service

TNT Express Portugal, the local unit of Dutch express service provider TNT Express, has launched its latest on-line service myTNT which allows the clients to create personalised secure environment, it was reported on April 11, 2005.

On entering myTNT, all transactions are encrypted and protected by the industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. The client can check that the environment is secure by looking for a locked padlock icon in the status bar of the Internet browser.

According to TNT, the service is ideal for small and medium-sized companies, with various parcels, various users, available 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Dutch TNT Express to complete Spanish network via acquisitions

TNT Express, a unit of the Dutch mail, express and logistics company TPG NV, currently seeks takeover opportunities in Spain in order to complete its network in the country, TNT Express management board member Marie-Christine Lombard said at the annual TPG general shareholders’ meeting of TPG on April 7, 2005.

According to TNT Express, Spain is one of the fastest growing markets in Europe.

At the meeting, TPG shareholders approved the statutory name change of TPG NV into TNT NV. The meeting also approved the reduction of TPG issued capital through cancellation of the shares, repurchased from the Dutch State. TPG bought back 20.7 million shares from the State for a total of some 400 mln euro (USD515.6 mln).

TNT Express in Czech Republic raises sales, profit in 2004

Czech express delivery service TNT Express increased sales by 30.8 per cent to EUR17.7m (some Kc532m) last year, CEO for the Czech Republic Petr Chvatal told a news conference today. Gross profit went up by almost 62 per cent to EUR3.3m (some Kc100m), Chvatal said. The company expects sales to increase to EUR20m (Kc600m) and profit to EUR4m (Kc120m) this year. Sales on the entire Czech express delivery market amount to an estimated Kc4bn. Around 1.5 million consignments are dispatched annually, with the market growing by around ten per cent a year, Chvatal said.

TNT Express to invest 1.2 Mln Euro in Thessaloniki facilities

TNT Hellas, the Greek unit of Dutch express delivery service provider TNT Express, will invest some 1.2 mln euro (USD1.6 mln) in the company’s new building facilities in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, it was reported on March 23, 2005.

The facilities are located on an area of 2,000 sq m near the Macedonia Airport .

The company plans to soon make possible a direct connection between Thessaloniki and TNT Express’s Pan-European road network.

Thessaloniki has recently been linked to TNT’s air network and to TNT’s European hub in Liege, southeastern Belgium.
