TNT Logistics Italy has signed a major new contract to manage non-food items for SMA, a supermarket division of Gruppo Rinascente in Italy. In terms of the three-year contract, TNT Logistics will manage the logistics activities for non-seasonal items such as electronics and textile products to SMA and Cityper supermarkets.

The first one, with T.R.S. Evolution S.p.A., a division of the Trussardi Group, marks TNT’s debut in Italy’s luxury goods sector. Trussardi produces bags, suitcases, small leather goods and clothing. TNT also received a contract from Giochi Preziosi, a toy producer, to provide logistics management for all of its products.
TNT Logistics Benelux and Transitions Optical EDC LTD, subsidiary of
Transitions Optical Europe, have signed a three and half year contract under
which Transitions will outsource to TNT Logistics its warehousing operation,
formerly based in Tuam, Ireland.
TNT Logistics Benelux will be responsible for inbound, storage and outbound
activities at its existing multi-user site in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
Currently the transfer of goods, which started on May 13, takes place and will
be completed in the coming months. After the build up, TNT Logistics will
operate the complete scope of activities. Transitions is in the business of
manufacturing, purchasing and distributing plastic photochromic lenses for the
ophthalmic industry.
