Brazil: TNT enters contract with Samsung

A contract worth R$20mil between TNT Logistics and Samsung SDI Brasil celebrates a five-years strategic partnership. In the first half of 2005, TNT will invest R$2.5mil in Samsung’s project in operations infrastructure and IT. TNT will be responsible for the whole supply chain of Samsung’s plant. The goal of TNT is that the long-term contract reduce logistic costs by 30%. The Brazilian subsidiary registered a net income of R$372mil in 2004 and predicts R$400mil for 2005 – 65% from the automobile sector; 15% from the agricultural area and 20% from industrial activity. The goal to reach R$1bil has been postponed from 2006 to 2008.

SNCF outsources spare parts logistics to TNT Logistics

SNCF, the state-owned French railways company, has awarded the global, Netherlands-based Mail, Logistics and Express company TPG NV, through its business unit TNT Logistics France, a 6 year contract for the management of spare parts for its high-speed trains (TGV), locomotives and railcars. The contract is worth EUR80 million and operations will start beginning of 2006. TNT Logistics has been selected to operate the 45,000 square meters central warehouse that will be located in the Paris surroundings, as well as to manage distribution operations of parts to the repairs & maintenance centres.

TNT Logistics receives third “Q1” award from Ford Motor Company

TNT Logistics, a leading provider of supply chain services to the automotive industry, has received its third Ford Motor Company “Q1” Award for quality services in North America. This award is for providing transportation services to Ford’s fleet business out of TNT Logistics’ Brownstown (Michigan) operation located south of Detroit. The winning of Ford’s “Q1” Award continues a tradition of excellence for TNT Logistics North America in the automotive industry as the company also won DaimlerChrysler’s “Gold” Award last year.

TPG’s Italian Logistics wins new 3-yr contract from Canon

TPG NV said that its TNT Logistics unit in Italy has won a new three year contract from Canon Inc. No financial details were disclosed. Under the terms of the new contract, TNT Logistics Italy will develop solutions for a new logistics system with a central warehouse in the Netherlands and local warehouses in several European countries. All logistics activities provided to Canon Italia will be managed from the TNT Logistics Italy warehouse in Cerro al Lambro, Milan, which will also integrate the activities of Canon’s central European warehouse to perform all cross-docking operations.
