After considerable expansion in TNT’s Don Muang Airport operation, Thailand will officially become the fourth country in the company’s Asia network to be granted hub status. The new 24/7 airport operation, opened in February 2003, is dedicated to Express services covering import, export and trans-shipment consignments.

Dutch Post retreat harms Royal Mail deregulation

The Dutch post office is threatening to tear up its plans to set up in direct competition with Royal Mail, claiming that the Government’s deregulation proposals are flawed.

TPG Post, which owns the TNT delivery service, already has a licence to deliver mail in the UK and is expected to be the biggest threat to the loss-making Royal Mail when the market is fully open by 2007.

But in a letter to the postal regulator, Postcomm, TPG warns that, as the proposals stand, it will “have to fundamentally reconsider its business plans for establishing an alternative delivery network”.

Dutch global parcel delivery company TNT Express is looking at ‘all the options’ to replace Airborne as its ground delivery partner for great swathes of the US.

Airborne’s ground hub-to-door network now belongs to rival DHL, itself part of the Deutsche Post logistics and express parcel empire.

Twinnings and TNT Network Logistics increase partnership in UK

Twinnings distribution and TNT Network Logistics’ Wellsbourne and Bristol Depots have signed a new deal which increases their partnership to include Ovaltine products.

Twinnings, a TNT client since 1990, acquired Ovaltine last year and has now added the warehousing and distribution contract for the product to the volumes TNT is already handling. The contract involves the storage and distribution of more than 9m cases of tea and Ovaltine/Options to supermarkets, wholesalers and caterers.

Estonian growth in consignments makes TNT change aircraft

The TNT Estonia express delivery firm changed its earlier aircraft for a much bigger one as of Monday as the constantly growing number of express consignments was becoming difficult for the old aircraft to handle.

In the past five years the number of consignments delivered by TNT has increased by 200%, which is one of the main reason of changing the aircraft, said TNT Estonia managing director Asko Talu.
