TNT Express to add Naples and Florence to European air network from 9th Sept

TPG NV unit TNT Express will launch new connections between its European hub in Liege, Belgium, and Naples and Florence in Italy on Sept 9, said Christian Drenthen, managing director of TNT Express Worldwide Networks.

Speaking at a news conference, he said the new routes will bring the number of Italian airports in TNT Express’s network to eight, five more than rival DHL, a unit of Deutsche Post World Net AG, and four more than United Parcel Service Inc.

Bank of Scotland provide funding for TNT Express parcel delivery vehicles

Bank of Scotland Business Banking’s Asset Finance Transport & Distribution team is delivering the goods to TNT UK Ltd. The Bank’s team has provided funding worth GBP3.6 million to enable TNT to finance 144, 7.5 tonne, parcel delivery vehicles.

The five-year operating lease deal was concluded after comprehensive discussions with TNT, aimed at providing a bespoke funding package to meet their specific needs. One of the key considerations was ensuring that documentation was kept to a minimum and that the vehicle manufacturer and body builders were paid as and when the vehicles were delivered.

TPG awarded new logistics contract in China

TPG, through its Chinese logistics joint venture ANJI-TNT Automotive Logistics Company (ANJI -TNT), part of its TNT Logistics division, has signed the largest automotive inbound logistics contract awarded in China to date.

The five-year contract between ANJI-TNT and Shanghai Volkswagen (SVW) was signed at the recent first anniversary celebration of the ANJI-TNT joint venture and is expected to have total revenues of over EUR 100 million.

TNT Worldwide Malaysia sees 10% revenue growth

TNT Express Worldwide (M) Sdn Bhd expects to see revenue growth of 10 per cent for 2003, despite seeing a drop-off in volume of express materials handled in the second quarter. “We are on track. We expect demand to pick up in the second half to meet our full-year revenue forecast,” managing director L C Lee told reporters during a press conference in Petaling Jaya yesterday. He said the company was affected by the reduction in flight frequencies to areas hit by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, but it managed to reduce the impact by re-routing shipments to other gateways.

TNT Express first to partner an Iraqi courier

TNT Express, the leading business to business express carrier has today announced a partnership agreement with Baghdad’s largest courier company IKE Express to provide door to door delivery services to and from Iraq. TNT Express is the first international express company to link up with an Iraqi national operator since the lifting of UN sanctions and the partnership will provide more reliable services for customers in the region.

A new daily TNT Express road service from across the border in Amman, Jordan is now carrying documents, parcels and air freight into Baghdad with operations expected to extend to Basra as well as other Iraqi cities in the next few months. All delivery drivers engaged in the partnership with IKE Express wear TNT Express uniforms and vehicles carry TNT livery with all operations being controlled by the TNT Express global link computer system.
