TPG unit Cendris UK wins 3 year, 10 MLN order from T-Mobile UK

TPG NV announced its unit Cendris UK won a three-year contract with Deutsche Telekom AG unit T-Mobile UK with a total value of 10 mln stg.
Cendris will take over digital printing and associated fulfilment responsibility for T-Mobile’s telephone billing and other essential customer communications.
Cendris will undertake T-Mobile’s telephone billing to customers, which includes the issuing of telephone accounts and payment reminder letters.

TNT to embrace more of eastern Europe and serve extra airports

A three-year expansion plan will see TNT covering seven more countries in eastern Europe and serving 12 additional airports.
In a rare media briefing in London, Alan Jones, group MD of TNT Express, said: “We want to build on our strengths in Europe and grow in the rest of the world.” The integrator now has 500 depots in 31 countries, deploys its own aircraft at 55 airports and uses commercial lift elsewhere, enabling it to offer service to 208 countries.
Later average departure times from most airports meant good cut-off times for customers, Jones said, and in some cases – he quoted Milan’s Linate airport and Tegel at Berlin – TNT was the only freight carrier in key central locations.

Czech Post Office has ten rivals on local market

The Czech Post Office Ceska posta has ten rivals with permission to provide postal services on the Czech market, the Ministry of Transport and Communications has reported.

Postal services are provided by several courier services, as well as by multinational companies like TNT, DHL International or United parcel service.

While Ceska posta has to offer its services throughout the country, its rivals generally concentrate on profitable segments of the market, that is, services for the corporate sector or in towns, Ceska posta’s spokesman Ladislav Vancura said.

Last year, Ceska posta delivered 735.2 million letters, 23.8 million parcels, and 90 million bills.

It posted a gross profit of Kc743m on operating revenues of Kc14.5bn in 2001. The company runs 3,400 post offices and employs 39,600 people.

Uk International parcels and packets market

Six carriers account for 71% of the UK international parcels and packets market, according to research by Andrew Lester & Associates. This figure was revealed in the Pac Trac programme, a market monitoring study based on interviews with 500 UK shippers during the March- May period. It shows that DHL held the lion’s share (32%), followed by UPS (20%) and TNT (10%). Together the Royal Mail and Parcelforce have 5% share of the market. When asked which international carrier has the best reputation for quality, the respondents voted FedEx as the winner, followed by DHL and UPS.
