Deutsche Post World Net strengthens its foreign logistics business with acquisitions in Chile and in Turkey

Deutsche Post World Net is acquiring the Commercial Safeway SA company, headquartered in Santiago/Chile. With its 40 percent market share, the logistics company is the market leader in air freight export of perishable goods in Chile. Deutsche Post has also acquired Berben Ekspress Nakliyat, one of the leading Turkish logistics companies headquartered in Istanbul. The purchase is contingent upon the approval of the local cartel authorities. Berben Ekspress has been active for the Group since 1987 as a subcontractor to Deutsche Post subsidiary Danzas in Turkey.

TNT Express opens new hub

TNT Express has opened a €5.3m hub in Istanbul, paving the way for the launch of new domestic services in Turkey including same day, before 9am and before noon deliveries. Istanbul services 40 depots and boasts daily linehaul connections to TNTs main European hub in Liege and to 10 other main European road hubs.
