Azerbaijan and Turkey agreed to transfer money by e-way

The visit of Turkish post representatives to Azerbaijan has been completed, during which switching to e-system of money transfers was discussed.

Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies informed that the main topics for discussions were questions on switching to e-system of money transfers between Azerbaijan and Turkey instead of existing transfer system via fax and a possibility to join Azerpocht state enterprise to Eurogiro money transfer system.

“After held meetings Turkish party reported that in two months they would solve technical questions and submit information to Azerpocht administration,” it was reported.

During the visit the guests familiarized with reforms regarding communications in Azerbaijan and Azerpocht work principles.

Turkish Post Representatives to Visit Baku

The Turkish Postal Administration delegation will visit Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Communication and IT Ministry reported.

They are expected in Baku on 1 April and will hold meeting in the Communication Ministry and Azerpocht state building.

The aim of the visit is to familiarize themselves with the reforms in the postal sphere of Azerbaijan and to strengthen relations with Azerpocht.

Azerbaijan will familiarize the Turkish representatives with the postal principles of Azerpocht, as well as the work implemented by World Bank through the project ‘Development of Financial Services’.

Over 875 Million Consumers Have Shopped Online – the Number of Internet Shoppers up 40pct in Two Years

More than 85 percent of the world’s online population has used the Internet to make a purchase — increasing the market for online shopping by 40 percent in the past two years — according to the latest Nielsen Global Online Survey on Internet shopping habits. Globally, more than half of Internet users have made at least one purchase online in the past month, according to Nielsen.
Among Internet users, the highest percentage shopping online is found in South Korea, where 99 percent of those with Internet access have used it to shop, followed by the UK (97pct), Germany (97pct), Japan (97pct) with the U.S. eighth, at 94 percent. Additionally, in South Korea, 79 percent of these Internet users have shopped in the past month, followed by the UK (76pct) and Switzerland (67pct) with the U.S. at 57 percent.
Globally, the most popular and purchased items over the Internet are Books (41pct purchased in the past three months), Clothing/Accessories/Shoes (36pct), Videos / DVDs / Games (24pct), Airline Tickets (24pct) and Electronic Equipment (23pct).
Credit cards are by far the most common method of payment for online purchases — 60 percent of global online consumers used their credit card for a recent online purchase, while one in four online consumers chose PayPal. Of those paying with a credit card, more than half (53pct) used Visa.
According to Nielsen, online shoppers tend to stick to the shopping sites they are familiar with, with 60 percent saying they buy mostly from the same site. “This shows the importance of capturing the tens of millions of new online shoppers as they make their first purchases on the Internet. If shopping sites can capture them early, and create a positive shopping experience, they will likely capture their loyalty and their money,” said Paul.

3 New Direct Marketing Associations join FEDMA Membership

FEDMA has increased its DMA membership by welcoming three new national Direct Marketing Associations from Croatia, Latvia and Turkey.

The adherence of these three DMAs demonstrates how FEDMA remains the unique voice of the European direct and interactive marketing industry attracting new markets within Europe and beyond.

By joining FEDMA, the Croatian, Latvian and the Turkish DMA will work closely with both FEDMA and the other 25 DMAs in FEDMA membership at an international level in order to protect, promote and inform the industry.

“We are delighted to welcome the Croatian, Latvian and the Turkish DMA into FEDMA Membership. Although they are located in very different countries, each DMA has similar challenges and opportunities since they are all in a new, but growing, DM markets. Together with our other DMAs and members, FEDMA will promote, inform and protect the industry, which are the three pillars of our mission statement” said Alastair Tempest, Director General of FEDMA.

DHL upgrades freighters from Turkey

DHL Aviation has boosted its capacity from Turkey by over 160 per cent, by replacing of its five weekly B757 freighters with six weekly A300 freighters.

The airline now offers a total allocation of 520,000 kg of main deck space per month from Istanbul to its European hub in Brussels, linking to 136 destinations worldwide on its own services. Interline agreements with American Airlines, Air Canada and Continental Airlines add a further 94 destinations.

DHL Aviation is represented in Turkey by its GSSA of 11 years, Kargosistem AS, whose managing director Demir Ozerman, said: “This additional freighter capacity, coupled with network expansion and improved routings, gives DHL Aviation much greater potential in this market. It also significantly improves the scope of services we can offer to the Turkish airfreight community and boosts our total portfolio of destinations to almost 300.”
