Emirates Post signs postal deals with Yemen and Egypt
Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post, signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) with Mohammed Ali Morgham, Director General of Post Authority of Yemen, and Alaa Fahmi, Chairman of Egyptian National Post Authority.
Under the agreement with Yemen, Emirates Post and Yemen will work together to enhance postal services between the two countries, and start a money transfer service, as well as put together a marketing and promotions plan. In addition, Emirates Post will offer Yemen expertise of its indigenously developed Point of Sale (POS) system for linking post offices through a centralised computerised system.
Emirates Post signed two separate agreements with Yemen and Egypt on the concluding day of the UPU Strategy Conference in Dubai, to boost bi-lateral postal ties.
The agreement also covers use of each other’s mail hub facility, with Yemen using Dubai as a re-routing point and Dubai using Yemen’s hub to reach African countries. A committee made up of representatives from both sides was formed to follow up on the terms listed in the Memorandum of Understanding.
