Triumph Motorcyles awards contract to Lex Auto Logistics

Triumph Motorcycles has awarded Lex Auto Logistics a three-year contract to provide its innovative Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC).
Paul Checkley, Triumph says, “Lex Auto Logistics were the ideal choice for us when it came to deciding who should provide us with electronic parts cataloguing.
“We needed someone who has first class knowledge of the automotive industry together with IT expertise. We are very pleased with our choice, Lex Auto Logistics has been flexible in working with us to meet our specific needs.”

The UK national postal strike that no one noticed

THE THREAT of a national postal strike may have been one of the most feared industrial disputes in recent months, raising the prospect of sealed postboxes and backlogs of mail, but it has already happened — and no one noticed.
Postal union representatives last week went on strike for all of 15 minutes. The Communication Workers Union held the mini-strike last Tuesday to keep its options open for future action amid pay talks that began last autumn and, despite an apparent settlement a few weeks ago, still drag on.

Parcelforce acts to staunch cash drain

Parcelforce aims to be a smaller but smarter carrier under restructuring plans announced last week by parent group Consignia.
The company, which has not been in the black since its formation in the 1980s and is now losing £180m a year, is shelving 6,700 out of 11,700 jobs. It will close five parcel sorting centres by the end of June, together with 51 of its 101 depots in a bid to save £460m (€736m).

TNT Logistics has set up separate dedicated and multi-user divisions in the Uk to reflect the growing size and importance of its logistics business there. Last year its revenue increases by 30% moving it into the top five logistics companies in the country.

Ministers had talks to sell Consignia to Dutch

Ministers were on Sunday accused of trying to conceal talks to sell Consignia’s core Royal Mail business to TPG, the privatised Dutch postal group.
Insiders close to the discussions said TPG had proposed an all-share takeover of Royal Mail but talks had broken down two weeks ago and were “completely dead”.
The news is in contrast to a statement given on March 21 in which the government denied it had been talking to an overseas bidder.
Lord Sainsbury, in response to a question from Baroness Miller in the House of Lords, said: “I have no indication that any negotiations have ever taken place on that.”
