FedEx Corp. Announces Stock Repurchase Program

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sep 24, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) — FedEx Corporation (NYSE: FDX)
today announced that its Board of Directors has authorized management to
repurchase, within its discretion, up to 5 million shares of the company’s
common stock. The company said purchases may be made in the open market and in negotiated or
block transactions. FedEx currently has 298 million shares outstanding.

CEOs ordered to testify in DHL dispute

A federal judge ordered top executives of Deutsche Post and DHL Worldwide Express to testify in a dispute over cargo carrier DHL Airways Inc.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the ruling by Ronnie Yoder, the Department of Transportation’s chief administrative law judge, is a win for FedEx Corp. and United Parcel Services Inc.

On August 10, the United States Postal Service will launch Customized MarketMailTM (CMM), an advertising mail product recognizable from others by their eyecatching, novel shapes. These distinctly different, literally-outside-the-box-shaped pieces will set their senders apart by visually communicating those mailers’ products and services. ‘In the battle for audience attention, Customized MarketMail will allow business mailers to differentiate their products in the mailstream,’ said Nick Barranca, Vice President of Product Development for the Postal Service. ‘Within certain size, weight, and thickness limitations, Customized MarketMail can be virtually any shape and design the mailer desires. House leader alleges discrimination against U.S. express companies

The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee has asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to investigate competitive conditions in overseas markets for U.S.-based express courier companies. In a letter dated June 30, Rep. Bill Thomas, R.-Calif., said his concerns stem from “continued discriminatory treatment by foreign governments in areas such as licensing,” as well as market-distorting conditions that can arise overseas. Thomas’s letter to ITC chairman Deanna Tanner Okun requested that the fact-finding investigation “examine the composition of the global industry, major market participants, and factors driving change, including regulatory reform in major markets.”
