Sanmina-Sci and UPS to provide global integrated supply chain solutions

Sanmina-SCI Corporation and UPS announced today that UPS Supply Chain Solutions will provide global logistics services for Sanmina-SCI customers. By utilizing their worldwide networks, Sanmina-SCI and UPS will work to create significant savings through inventory reduction, rapid order delivery, and the reduction/elimination of fixed expenses such as dedicated warehousing assets for its shared customers.
The first joint project is to support Sanmina-SCI’s Supply Chain Services Agreement with IBM, announced earlier this month. This agreement expands Sanmina-SCI’s fulfillment flexibility and speed in the United States, Mexico, Scotland, Hungary, Holland, Dubai, China, Japan, Malaysia, and Australia.

Sinotrans to raise US$457M in HK share offering

China’s largest freight forwarder, Sinotrans, is planning to raise as much as US$457 million in its initial public offering in Hong Kong.

It is the first major IPO in the SAR this year, and analysts say it may attract investors eager to get into the China’s logistics sector.

Four international logistics companies have committed to taking about a one-quarter strategic stake in Sinotrans.

Deutsche Post to deliver US parcels on the ground

Deutsche Post World Net AG’s courier company DHL World Express could start as early as March to deliver parcels in the US on the ground, in addition to its current deliveries by plane, the Financial Times Deutschland reported, citing a company spokesman.
