DPD & FedEx to cooperate

Within the scope of an alliance between French La Poste and Fedex Express the US mail services company will carry postal consignments of the German La Poste parcel subsidiary Deutsche Paketdienst (DPD) on international and intercontinental flights. The Fedex/DPD cooperation concerns deliveries of DPD’s new express service, which is to be offered as of 1 July 2002.

BMW signs contract with FedEx to transport parts

BMW has signed a contract with FedEx Corporation (NYSE: FDX) for a parts delivery to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport once a day five days a week. On each of the five days, FedEx will deliver 427 cubic feet of overseas parts to GSP and then those parts will be trucked to BMW Manufacturing Corp., which is adjacent to the airport. During a year’s time, FedEx will deliver more than 500,000 cubic feet of parts. By flying from FedEx’s U.S. hubs directly into GSP, the parts will arrive about 12 hours earlier and will be available for the start of the factory’s early morning shift.

Consignia, USPS Work to Speed Delivery

The U.S. Postal Service and Consignia, the British postal system, are working to overcome customer complaints about an international delivery agreement between the two agencies earlier this year, the USPS said this week. As part of the three-year deal, General Logistic Systems, Consignia’s Pan-European parcel company, delivers USPS Global Express Mail and Global Air Parcel Post in Europe.
