The Governors of the United States Postal Service have authorized the immediate filing of a request for new higher postal rates.
Overall the USPS will be requesting an 8.7 % increase. For First Class mail, the USPS will be asking for a 3 cent increase on the price of a First Class stamp, which equates to an average 8.2 % increase. For Standard Mail, the increase would be 7.3%, for Packages, 9%, for Periodicals, 10.0%, for Priority Mail, 13.5%, and for Express Mail, 9.7%.
