The Governors of the United States Postal Service have authorized the immediate filing of a request for new higher postal rates.

Overall the USPS will be requesting an 8.7 % increase. For First Class mail, the USPS will be asking for a 3 cent increase on the price of a First Class stamp, which equates to an average 8.2 % increase. For Standard Mail, the increase would be 7.3%, for Packages, 9%, for Periodicals, 10.0%, for Priority Mail, 13.5%, and for Express Mail, 9.7%. FedEx slashes costs amid traffic and earnings fall

Like most aviation and logistics companies around the world, Federal
Express (FedEx), is feeling pressure from the global economic slump. Traffic is down and, with it, earnings.
In the face of this adversity, FedEx is cutting costs. It is
discarding 29 ageing cargo aircraft and trimming expansion plans.
There is also a hiring freeze and employees know enough not to
expect a bonus from the company’s profit-sharing programme at the
year-end. But growth in China has exceeded the company’s expectations.

UPS Logistics Group wins global supply chain contract with Samsung Electro-Mechanics

UPS Logistics Group has been chosen by
Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., Ltd. (SEMCO), a division of Samsung, to
reengineer and manage its global supply chain.
The three-phase project will redesign SEMCO’s logistics, transportation,
customs brokerage and inventory management for both raw materials and finished
goods covering North America, Asia, Europe and Latin America.
