USPS planned website will allow movers to electronically log in their address changes

The U.S. Postal Service estimates that 45 million Americans move every year. For nearly two decades, the USPS’s National Change of Address system (NCOA), which includes the names of those movers, has been the best way for catalogers to keep up with those movers. This year, the Postal Service is implementing two changes in the NCOA system that may enable catalogers to better keep up with customers on the move. UPS, Postal Service enter joint venture

The U.S. States Postal Service, which lost $199 million in fiscal 2000, has added United Parcel Service to the list of companies it hopes will help improve its efficiency. UPS announced on Thursday that it would offer a range of postal-related services, including presorting and localized printing of mail items. The company joins FedEx Corp., DHL Worldwide Express and Emery Worldwide, among others, that perform sorting or transportation service behind the scenes of mail delivery.
