Expresso Aracatuba' Turnover Increases 13.5%

The Brazilian cargo transportation company Expresso Aracatuba, based in Sao Paulo, will register an increase of 13.5% in net turnover in 2002, reaching R$118million. In 2001 its net income reached R$104mil. The net result of the whole group, including Exata Logistica and Golden Cargo companies, will reach R$170mil this year, an expansion of 17% in comparison to 2001. The company aims to grow by 12% in its net results for 2003. 15% out of Expresso Aracatuba’s 2002 overall turnover came from its autoparts sector.

An Post levy for regulation to be trimmed to €1.1M

A levy on An Post to cover the cost of regulation is set to be slashed following talks between the two sides.

A consultation paper issued last night by the Office of the Director of Telecommunications Regulation, which monitors An Post, suggests a levy for the year to June 2003 of €1.1 million, less than half the €2.5 million envisaged when the issue was first raised last year.

Postcomm consults on working arrangements with the OFT

Postcomm today published for consultation a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) setting out how it proposes to work with the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) on issues affecting competition.
The OFT enforces the Competition Act 1998* which prohibits anti-competitive behaviour in the UK. Postcomm has a responsibility for enforcing Consignia’s licence, which, among other things, requires Consignia not to act anti-competitively. There is therefore a potential overlap between the roles of Postcomm and OFT in this area.

Australia Post on prowl with $200M in war chest

Fresh from a record profit result, Australia Post has signalled it has at least $200 million to spend on expanding its business beyond the traditional snail mail.

Australia Post managing director Graeme John said the group was subject to confidentiality agreements, and refused to be drawn on whether Mayne Group’s Loomis operations were in its sights.
