China adds express restrictions

China has upped the ante in its fight with foreign express providers, prohibiting them from carrying personal letters and most official documents.

“International delivery companies will be allowed to carry express documents and document-type items into and out of the country, but not personal letters, nor documents from (Communist) party, government or military bodies at the county level or above,” said a joint statement from China’s Ministry of Information Industry, Foreign Trade Ministry and State Postal Bureau, known as China Post.

FedEx provide money-back guarantee in China

FedEx Express (FedEx), the express transportation company, will offer its money-back guarantee to customers throughout China. It will be the first and only international express carrier to offer a money-back guarantee in the China market.

This latest move comes at a time of quick expansion by FedEx’s major global competitor, United Parcel Service (UPS), in China.

UK postal workers walk out over Cashco sell-off

Angry postal workers at a Royal Mail depot near Bristol walked out yesterday in an unofficial strike in protest at plans to sell off a key part of the Post Office.

The workers are employed by Cashco, which is the arm of the Royal Mail that delivers cash and high-value items.

The action began at 7pm on Monday after detailed plans were revealed regarding the sale of Cashco to privateers Securicor.
