Postal service jumps on net bandwagon

At a time when the Internet is biting into postal operators’ profits, Chinese postal companies are jumping on the technology bandwagon. Pitney Bowes announced last week that it had forged a partnership with China Post to implement its first Chinese web-based postage management system, Postagebyphone.com. It estimates China’s postage meter market to be worth US$400 million.

State-owned Russian Post created

Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov has signed a decree creating state-owned postal service Russian Post (Pochta Rossii), the government press service said in a statement Friday. The ruling set Russian Post under control of the Communications Ministry.
