NIPOST to aid student reading levels

NIPOST, the Nigerian national operator, has expressed willingness to help improve literary levels in the country. Alex Bature, area postal manager at NIPOST, said the operator is looking to partner with schools to enhance student performance in English language.

Bature told All Africa: “The post is willing to partner with post primary schools to enhance essay and letter writing skills among students by organising essay and letter writing competitions.”

He highlighted the importance of letting writing as a tool for improving English skills.

“Many schools have not shown interest in the scheme thus resulting in the failure of English language by candidates who sit for the SSCE. In both WAEC and NECO examinations, there is a section on essay writing and another on letter writing and if a student does not answer the questions in these sections very well, he/her cannot pass English language with a good grade,” Bature added.
