PostNord Strengthens Northern Sweden Operations
PostNord is investing half a billion SEK in a new terminalfor parcel and pallet handling at the Midlanda areain Timrå, WestNorrland County. The terminal will employ over 200 workers and is expectedto be operational from 2028.
“We are pleased to be able to proceed with the establishment of a new terminal in the Midlanda area in Timrå. The new terminal consolidates PostNord‘s presence in northern Sweden and gives us the conditions to meet a growing parcel market. Swedish e-commerce had a turnover of approximately SEK 153 billion last year and shows no signs of slowing down. I see the terminal as a hub for the rest of Norrland and a necessity as the parcel market is growing at record speed.” says Peter Gisel-Ekdahl, CEO of PostNord Sweden.
PostNord‘s new terminal will be built between Midlandavägen, Sundsvall Timrå Airport and Qstar in the Midlanda area. The land purchase of almost eight hectares is a deal between the municipal company Timrå Invest AB and Inhubs AB. PostNord will enter into a lease agreement with Infrahub’s subsidiary Inhubs AB, which owns the building.
“This feels really fun. The establishment means jobs and a significant investment in the municipality. We get another important employer with a long-term presence in the region, which strengthens our local business community,” says Stefan Dalin (S), Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board of Timrå and Chairman of Timrå Invest AB
“I am proud that PostNord has chosen Timrå for its investment This is a big and good step in our work to develop the area further,” says Markus Sjöström (M), Vice Chairman of Timrå Invest AB.
Construction of the terminal will begin in the autumn and the terminal is expected to be operational from the first quarter of 2028, with PostNord investing more than half a billion SEK in the project.
