Postal liberalisation on EU agenda for monday

Postal Liberalisation on EU Agenda for Monday
October 12, 2001 — Reuters: The following is from the midday briefing by the European Commission on Friday: “Spokesman Jonathan Todd briefed on the EU’s Council of Telecommunications Ministers due on Monday October 15 in Luxembourg. He said one main issue on the agenda would be the liberalisation of postal services. The Stockholm EU summit has called for an agreement on this issue before year end. Todd said the Commission had worked hard with the Belgian EU Presidency in order reach a compromise, in which full opening of the postal market will happen at a later stage. Postal services have already been partially liberalised, and further liberalisation concerning letters and packages weighing less than 350 g is planned for 2003.”
