Europa starts the year off the right way with new acquisition

Logistics operator, Europa Worldwide Group, has announced the acquisition of some of the trade and assets of Menzies Response (an end-to-end fulfilment and warehouse management service) for an undisclosed sum.
Europa has purchased Menzies’ warehouse based in Rushden Northamptonshire and its PCI compliant contact centre based in Ashford, Kent, from its parent company, Menzies Distribution, to strengthen its Europa Warehouse division.
Europa Warehouse already has three facilities in Dartford, Birmingham and Northampton.
Europa’s Managing Director, Andrew Baxter, comments: “The acquisition is a great start to the year for Europa, further adding to our growing portfolio. The Menzies’ assets are a perfect fit with Europa Warehouse and our aim is to strengthen, develop and grow the business.
Europa Warehouse will take over the existing customer base and 90 employees, with business continuing as normal.
He added “Our prior experience makes us well placed to deal with the subtle process of integrating new businesses into our Group and I look forward to welcoming Menzies Response’ staff to our team.”
Alongside the warehouse, Menzies Response also operates a PCI compliant contact centre, based in Ashford supporting all forms of customer care across telephone, email, social media and website contact forms, which will be rebranded as Europa Contact Centre.
Europa Warehouse Director, Maria Torrent-March, comments: “We are confident that now is the right time to expand and we know we have the right skills and ability to grow the Menzies Response business.”
In 2017 Europa Worldwide Group officially announced it was on the acquisition trail, with an ambition of annual acquisitions to strengthen its offering across all of our four divisions. In May last year Europa made its first acquisition with the Belgium based specialist part and full load operator, Continental Cargo Carriers.
Andrew said: “We are pretty open minded in terms of acquisition targets. We are looking to develop all of our international markets, as long as the business adds strength to our market position in one of our core sectors, then we are happy.”
Support for Europa’s acquisition was provided by Ian Moore, Carly McGowan, Vanessa Challenger, Julie Morrison and Rachel Cooper from Eversheds Sutherland.
