Board appointment for Europa Worldwide

Board appointment for Europa Worldwide

Carlo Turner has been promoted to the new position of Non-Network and Continent Director at Europa Worldwide Group as part of the firm’s plans to reach new markets and expand its Belgium presence.

Sitting on the Europa Board and reporting directly to Managing Director Andrew Baxter, Carlo’s brief is to take forward the growing interests of the business in Belgium, with a specific initial focus on the groupage, part and full load road freight product offer.

His focus over the coming months will then be to shine a strategic spotlight on all areas of the business model – from sales to operations, accounts, workshop and warehouse – to determine how these can be further developed in line with Europa’s overarching vision to become bigger, better and bolder.

This will involve an evaluation of the current forwarding offer in order to identify further opportunities for expansion and determine how equipment can be optimised to develop Europa’s own continental fleet.

Speaking about Carlo’s appointment, Andrew Baxter commented: “Carlo is a shining example of what we look for in our people. He is someone who shows commitment, a willingness to progress and who makes the most of the career opportunities on offer.

“His appointment as Non-Network and Continent Director marks an important milestone for the Group. Carlo will spearhead our ambition to further develop more of our own transport architecture across Belgium as we position ourselves as the company of choice within the global logistics network.”

Carlo currently manages a growing team of 47 staff, located in Belgium and the UK, all operating in a range of roles: from sales, customs and operations to forwarding and depot management. Plans are afoot to expand this with the introduction of market managers in strategically important hub locations.

Carlo Turner said: “This is an incredible opportunity to strengthen our services for existing customers while shaping the growing client portfolio through an enhanced and more responsive structure. I’m thrilled to have been appointed to the role and am looking forward to helping the Group push forwards with its plans to create added value and smart logistics within the supply chain.

“There are many challenges facing the sector at present, but our approach is all about innovation. We want to tap into markets where there is room for us to grow and also to build our own inter-connectivity across the Belgium infrastructure. There are incredibly exciting times ahead, and I am looking forward to this next phase in Europa’s onward journey.”

Europa Worldwide Group has three divisions – Road, Air & Sea, and Warehouse – and an ever-expanding global footprint. Already this year in the UK, three new Road Network branches have already opened, bringing the total up to 16, whilst overseas, the Group has branched out in the Middle East and Asia. The company employs over 1,300 staff with sites in the UK, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dubai, and Belgium.
