Batt appointed CEO of Asendia U.K.

Following Asendia Group’s acquisition of wnDirect, which was completed in January 2019,  Simon Batt has assumed the role of CEO of the new combined company.

The aim of the merger was to create a new, larger e-commerce focused business with an expanded range of delivery and postal services, mail solutions and fulfilment capabilities. The two companies will, over a period of time, fully merge and operate under the single brand of Asendia UK.

Speaking about the acquisition Simon Batt, said: “Asendia and wnDirect were seen as a very good fit as their strategies and ambitions are aligned and, together, they offer a much broader range of e-commerce, mail and fulfilment services. With wnDirect now onboard, customers will benefit from new options including wnDirect’s global commercial delivery network, and innovations including PUDO (Pick-Up-Drop-Off) and Return solutions, which we’ll offer to our customers in the UK and worldwide.”

Marc Pontet, Chief Executive Officer of Asendia Group: “We are delighted that wnDirect is joining the Asendia Group. wnDirect is a perfect complement to our existing business. On behalf of all of Asendia’s 1,500 staff around the world, as well as our shareholders Swiss Post and Groupe La Poste, I welcome the entire wnDirect team to Asendia.”

Formed in 2012 the Asendia Group is a joint venture between Group La Poste and Swiss Post, and has a presence in 15 countries.

Simon has worked in the mail and parcels industry for 19 years; the last 10 years within the international arena. After graduation following studies in the UK and Spain, he held a number of senior roles in Royal Mail Group including as International Director (Parcels) where he managed the Parcelforce Worldwide international business and global relationships, before joining DPDgroup HQ in Paris in 2011. There he held Board positions within several international investments, led product / sales development in overseas markets as Managing Director of DPD Global Solutions, and worked on market entry strategies.
