LYNX ranked in top 800 UK Companies according to Government ‘Value Added Scoreboard’

LYNX Express, has been recognised by the Dti (Department of Trade and Industry’s) in its 2004 Value Added Scoreboard for outstanding improvements in productivity and sales.

The annual Scoreboard, now in its third year, provides a measure of the wealth created by the top 800 UK and 600 European companies. LYNX Express’ performance confirms that the company has dramatically improved over the four year averages calculated for value added, wealth creation and efficiency.

These new figures from a major Government Department cap a remarkable 12 months in the continuing LYNX Express success story. Only last weekend, the Sunday Times published its exclusive Profit Track 100 supplement listing LYNX Express as having the fastest growing profits in the UK transport sector for 2002 with profits up nearly 40 per cent since 1999.

Last year LYNX were confirmed as the most reliable delivery company in the UK by independent research, following on from its success in winning the International Freighting Weekly Industry Awards for Innovation and as International Express Operator of the Year.

David Burtenshaw, Chief Executive of LYNX Express commented: “Our drive to achieve consistent improvement in the business in terms of productivity, efficiency, financial and delivery performance is now being widely recognised not only by our industry peers but now by Government measurement criteria.

“Naturally we welcome such high profile analysis of the business which confirms that LYNX Express is now on a level of performance alongside some of the top companies in Britain.

“We set out our strategy to implement major improvements in terms of efficiency, productivity and overall delivery performance and that business plan is now bearing fruit. LYNX Express is fast becoming a blueprint for success in the parcels sector for the rest of the industry to follow.

“However we are by no means complacent about our recent success. We have yet to unlock the full potential of the business not only domestically but internationally. There is a lot more to deliver in the future,” he added.

Patricia Hewitt, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry quoted: “This third value added Scoreboard provides the key benchmarking tools for companies of all sizes to compare their wealth creating characteristics against their best European competitors.

“The Government places a high importance on maintaining a stable macro-economic environment and is determined to develop a world class environment for business and innovation.”
