Sendle’s expanding network makes delivery even more affordable

Sendle, Australia’s small business courier service, has expanded its same-city zones, heating up its post price war with Australia Post

For small businesses, a few dollars can have a huge impact on the bottom line and long term success — this move will, enabling them to reach more customers at same city delivery rates.

A few examples of what the announcement means in practice:

  •  A small business can send a 3kg parcel from Sydney, NSW to Balcolyn, NSW by Sendle’s ‘same-city’ rates  of $9.90. If they sent the same parcel with Australia Post they would be classified in a ‘rural’ zone and charged $14.20 — a 42 % difference.
  • Similarly, a 500g parcel from Brisbane, QLD, to Mount Rascal, QLD is $5.80 and same-city with Sendle, but rural and $8.55 with Australia Post – a 32 % difference.
  • A  Perth-based small business can send a 10kg parcel to Munchea, WA for $9.90, a 67 % difference on the $29.80 they would spend with Australia Post.

Sendle raised $20 million in a funding round earlier this year to continue its growth and offer small businesses more choice and flexibility in the Australian market.

This news follows hot on the heels of Sendle’s recent commitment to offer more parcel drop off points than there are Post offices in Australia by 2020.
