TNT Logistics wins 3-year Brazilian contract with Nivea

Effective immediately, TNT Logistics South America will take over the logistics of BDF Nivea in Brazil, part of the cosmetics giant, Beiersdorf. TNT Logistics was chosen after a long selection process including the main players in the Brazilian logistics sector.

(6/3/2004)

TNT Logistics takes over reception, checking, storage, separation, shipping and distribution management activities for all finished Nivea brand imported or domestic products made at the Itatiba plant in the state of São Paulo (SP), Brazil.

A two-stage transition project preceded the contract. During the first phase, starting in September 2003, TNT Logistics took over the operation of the two Nivea warehouses in Itatiba and Vinhedo, both in the São Paulo State. Together, these warehouses are 11,000 square metres in size. In the second phase, which started in mid-February this year, TNT Logistics consolidated both operations in a new multi-user DC in the city of Jundiai (SP) – which required TNT Logistics to invest an R$5 million (€1.4m) – and initiated transport management.

In the Jundiai DC, TNT Logistics will use the third version of WMS Click, the logistics management software that has been successfully implemented in other company operations in Brazil and worldwide. Radio communication will also be used from the second semester, to assure increased agility and reliability for materials reception and shipping processes.

With the new contract, which will run for three years, TNT Logistics Brazil’s share in the electronics and consumer goods segment will exceed 15% of its revenue.
