Emirates Post plans to introduce door-to-door postal service

Emirates Post is considering door-to-door postal delivery service. The Executive Council (EC) asked the postal authority to study the proposal, the National Consultative Council (NCC) was told yesterday. It was recommended in a letter addressed to the postal authority of Abu Dhabi by EC, the higher government authority in Abu Dhabi, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. A copy of the letter was also sent to NCC, which initiated the proposal and referred it to EC. It also asked the postal authority to offer faster postal service and open more branches in populous urban and rural areas. NCC members were told of this during yesterday’s debates. The issue has been raised many times to improve the country’s postal services. In a country of more than three million people, it is not easy for everyone to have a post box, it is often argued. The council suggested the system be enhanced so it is on par with international standards.
