Former Rosier Holdings chief Brian Rosier leads takeover of MAT Group
Brian Rosier, the founder and Chairman of Rosier Holdings until its sale to Securicor Omega Logistics in 1999, is returning to the transport and logistics industry through the takeover of MAT Group, another long-established name in freight and logistics.
Together with Mike Backs, his former Finance Director at Rosier Holdings, Rosier has reached agreement with family shareholders in MAT and has received their unanimous support for the take-over offer by their private company, Meadmile.
Meadmile was founded by Rosier and Backs, in order to create a global customer focused logistics and related services group. MAT is the first of a planned series of acquisitions, where there are benefits to be derived from the operational, financial and management experience of the principles and their network.
MAT was established in 1926 and has substantial operations in pan-European logistics, full load, groupage, air & ocean freight. It was created as Machinery and Technical Transport by the Kunzler family, but the last family member retired from active involvement in 2001
MAT Group, with a turnover of £65 million, returned to profitability in the second half of 2003, but the new management team believes that there is considerable scope to improve its current financial performance and to form a platform for the development of a global logistics business.
Commenting on the take-over, Brian Rosier states:
