Yodel to distribute at least three million recipe boxes per year

UK independent parcel carrier Yodel and recipe box company Gousto have extended their partnership in a bid to meet the new demand for home food deliveries.

The new agreement will see Yodel distribute at least three million recipe boxes per year as consumers grow hungry for the convenience of doorstep delivery.

With consumers asked to stay at home in recent months, there has been a growth in online grocery shopping, with Yodel carrying over 200,000 food deliveries a week. A recent report from Kantar shows online sales accounted for 10.2% of overall grocery in the 12 weeks to 19 April as consumers settled into lockdown, versus 7.4% for the previous month.

The renewed partnership follows a successful few years for Gousto, which has continued to drive strong year-on-year growth. Gousto customers will benefit from Yodel’s Xpect service meaning that customers will receive regular updates on their parcel delivery, including the two-hour delivery window on the morning of the delivery.

Sam Holden, chief commercial officer at Yodel, commented: “The boom in independent food deliveries has been one of the inspiring storylines in retail as consumers explore new, convenient ways to get a greater variety of high-quality meals.

“With specialist skills and expertise in food delivery, we pride ourselves on ensuring that perishable goods are handled with care and delivered on time. The first five years of our partnership with Gousto has given us an excellent foundation to build on, and we look forward to playing our part in the next stage of their success story.”

Jamie Clark, Supply Chain Director at Gousto, commented: “Gousto recipe boxes are an ideal way to get fresh ingredients delivered to your door and with over 50 weekly recipes to choose from, we inspire people to try new, exciting dishes. With precise ingredients and easy-to-follow recipe cards included in each delivery, we want to get Britain cooking and enjoying dinner times together with no household food waste.

“With their experience in handling food, Yodel has been a perfect partner for delivering our popular recipe boxes across the country over recent years.

“As more and more people show appetite for getting fresh ingredients delivered to their door, we’re looking forward to building on our long-term partnership with Yodel to get delicious recipes direct to the customer’s doorstep.”
