Spanish MRW Turnover Up to 207.2 Mln Euro H1 2003

Spanish express courier MRW, in Catalonia region, northeastern Spain, generated a turnover of 207.2 mln euro ($233.3 mln) for the first half of 2003, an 11.9 pct year-on-year increase, the company said on August 13, 2003.

The company opened 13 new franchises and their total number rose to 676 at the end of June 2003. MRW increased the number of logistics platforms by two newly built reaching a total of 24 at the end of June 2003.

The company plans to open 18 franchises in Spain and three in Portugal by the end of 2003. MRW plans to built two logistics platforms by the end of 2003, in Valladolid, in Castile-Leon region, northwestern Spain, and in Santiago de Compostella, in Galicia region, northerwestern Spain.

MRW, set up in 1977, operates franchises in Andorra, Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar. The company’s fleet includes some 3,500 vehicles. MRW generated a turnover of 390.1 mln euro ($439.3 mln) for 2002.
