Royal Mail rival picks stamp printer
Unique ID has printed a new business mail `stamp’ for private mail company DX Services. The stamp, the first contender to Royal Mail’s, will be trialled in Scotland and Ireland from next month.
The label was produced on a Zebra 90 XiIII Plus, with variable data printed at high speed using thermal transfer technology. Each label features a traditional barcode and a four-state barcode, a classic postal code that is easily read by automatic sorting equipment.
It will cost 28p, the same as a Royal Mail first class stamp, and DX said it will guarantee postal delivery before the next business day.
Based in High Wycombe, Unique ID manufactures barcodes and scanners, sells label printers and has a consumables printing bureau for producing labels and tags.
