TNT Logistics to enhance supply chain operations

Manhattan Associates(R), Inc. , the global leader in providing supply chain execution and optimization solutions, licensed its Labor Management and Slotting Optimization solutions to TNT Logistics North America, Inc., a leading provider of supply chain logistics services. The purchase of these solutions will enhance TNT’s manufacturing support services and will further increase efficiency and cost-savings in its supply chain processes through integration with other components of Manhattan Associates’ Integrated Logistics Solutions(TM) already deployed at TNT.

With the Labor Management solution, TNT will measure the work performed in its distribution centers using detailed information about employees’ schedules and activities. TNT can analyze the information against various standards and initiatives, facilitating the deployment and tracking of value-added programs such as incentive-based pay. The Slotting Optimization solution will increase efficiency of TNT’s facilities by determining the most beneficial and ergonomic placement of pickline items using genetic algorithms.

By implementing Labor Management and Slotting Optimization together, TNT is providing its DC operations with even greater capability. Labor standards can be applied to slotting recommendations, allowing TNT to further maximize every labor dollar in the warehouse. Through tight integration of the two solutions, TNT can calculate a pick layout’s impact on overall labor costs, analyze and simulate fulfillment before orders hit the floor and can make move strategies more cost beneficial.

“We were looking for an efficient, automated way to measure and improve work flow within our DCs, and Manhattan Associates’ solutions and expertise fit our needs,” said Carey Caile, manager of technology services, TNT Logistics North America. “Manhattan Associates’ Labor and Slotting solutions provide the functionality and flexibility to support our operations and ensure optimal warehouse configuration. We look forward to further enhancing our already strong business relationship with Manhattan Associates.”

TNT currently operates Manhattan Associates’ Warehouse Management, Performance Management and Trading Partner Management solutions, as well as its Transportation Management solution-specifically Transportation Procurement. The addition of Manhattan Associates’ Labor and Slotting solutions will help TNT achieve a more integrated, synchronized process across its supply chain.

“Today, companies are fine-tuning supply chain operations to stay competitive. Improved efficiency means better customer service and decreased costs,” said Jeff Mitchell, Manhattan Associates’ executive vice president, Americas. “By implementing Manhattan Associates’ labor and slotting capabilities, TNT will optimize processes and increase effective use of the space and resources within its facilities, increasing overall performance and ultimately reducing costs. In addition, integration of these with already- deployed components of Manhattan Associates’ Integrated Logistics Solutions will help TNT achieve a more single, synchronized process across its supply chain.”
